The 2017 Ga Homowo Traditional Wrestling competition will come off in Tema and La on August 5 and August 26 respectively.
The competition was launched last Friday at James Town, a surburb of Accra, by a traditional leader of the area, Nii Teiko Abobonua I, who commended the Greater Accra.
Wrestling Association (GAWA) chairman, George Mankattah and his executives for the competition to celebrate this year’s Homowo festival.
He appealed to companies to support traditional wrestling because it did not cost much to organise and also popular with people who hail from the coast line of Ghana.
Norbert Amefu, National Vice President of GAWA, said six regions in the country were preparing for a national competition to be held later in the year.
The Regional Sports Director, Jefferey K. Manzan Owusu, promised to offer support for the sport to become a popular one capable of winning laurels for Ghana at international events.
